I went to the Jurong Bird Park for the first time yesterday. It was so far away but the journey did not feel so long because I was with a bunch of friends and we chattered on a lot, as we always do. By the time we arrived at Boon Lay MRT station, though, it was nearly noon, so we decided to have lunch at the nearby Jurong Point mall first before taking the bus that would take us to the park. We checked out the Japanese food street at the basement and decided to get some sushi and barbeque.
After having our fill, we took a bus to the bird park. Anne had been there before, and she said all those flowers at the entrance weren’t there last time. They were certainly a welcome sight.
Barely a few steps in, we felt the scorching heat bearing down on us and sapping us of our energy. Yet we moved on, snapping away at every feathered friend that we found.

We didn’t get to watch any shows because we were too tired. Well except the “chichat with pelicans’ which was a pretty boring affair where they shared information about pelicans (the pelicans are the only birds who dive… the largest pelicans are the dalmatian pelicans…) I mean, we thought the pelicans would start dancing or something, but all they did was catch fish in their mouths.
We ended the day by going back to Jurong Point for snacks at Burger King, where Bri’s wife Elma met us. Then we took up the long commute back home for much needed rest. Some of us fell asleep even before we got home though. It truly was an exhausting yet fun day.
