We had a joint birthday celebration for Nantoy, Maya, Joc and Dred last Saturday. They whipped up some fried chicken, pinoy style spaghetti, buttered shrimps, leche flan and gulaman. Some of the guests brought some cakes for the birthday folks, so we lit the candles and had them make their wishes and blow them out.

Their theme was kiddie party, so I got them a hula hoop. Joc became such an expert with it but I could barely get it to make one complete revolution around my waist. T.T

After lunch, we packed up a picnic and headed to the nearby Pasir Ris park to spread ourselves on newspapers laid down on the grass and eat our snacks of street food – fishballs, qwek qwek, hotdogs and mallows. I loved the sauce made of vinegar and chopped up garlic and onions. Then we played games – pinoy henyo, humuhulahoop na kabayo sa gumigiling na kuto sa malaking balakang na pato, limbo rock, and skipping rope. Then when it got dark, we packed up our stuff and sang christmas carols while walking through the park on our way back to their flat.
At home, we opened some wines bought by Nantoy. He was really happy with the corkscrew I got him as a present because last time we had tried to open a bottle of wine without one, it had ended up broken. Nantoy had also bought a pack of cards, so we proceeded to play games – memory game, karga burot, unggoy-unggoy, one-two-three pass. Each loser had to be punished by being swiped with a bright red lipstick on the face. The end result:

It was super fun! Next celebration: new year. Until then! 🙂
