Kids, I’m gonna tell you an incredible story… the story of how I met my boyfriend.
On the first day of February 2012, my work started at noon, so instead of buying my usual hawker food lunch, I bought a sandwich from the cafe on the first floor of my building. I chose my favorite massive all day breakfast sandwich and the cashier rang up my purchase and placed it in a paper bag. I grabbed it with my left hand and made a beeline for the elevators, stepping into one just as a cute guy got into it as well.
When the doors slid shut, I suddenly became very aware of the fact that I was all alone in a cramped space with a cute guy and that realization made me extremely nervous, so much so that I fumbled and dropped my lunch bag. It landed with a thud which seemed so loud, or maybe it just seemed that way to me.
I blushed, quickly picked it up off the floor and stammered, “Sorry!” (Which was completely unnecessary, yes, I know that now.)
The guy grinned (maybe because I was acting so ridiculous) then turned to me and asked, “Your lunch?” I nodded and smiled but didn’t look him in the eye.
Then the elevator doors opened on my floor which also happened to be his, and I hurried away from him without another word or glance. I thought it was a very funny way to start my February, though, and I was suddenly glad that I had bought that sandwich because if not, I wouldn’t have been in that elevator at that exact same time and I wouldn’t have had something to drop to make the situation comical, at that.
And that’s the funny thing about destiny. It happens whether you plan it or not. I mean, I never thought I’d see that guy again but it turns out, I was just too close to the puzzle to see the picture that was forming. Because that, kids, is the true story of how I met this random cute stranger whose name I never found out and therefore never became my boyfriend. Yeah I know I said I’d tell you about my boyfriend; will you relax? I’m getting there. This story somehow ties in, I swear!
LOL actually I have no boyfriend story to tell at all, I just lifted the first and some of the last few lines from the pilot episode of How I Met Your Mother. But wouldn’t it have been cute if I met a guy that way and I could tell that as our “how we met” story? Too bad that was how it ended. Too bad I am so lame. Hahaha. ;P
