Kabe No Ana + Great Vines Bar & Bistro + Movida

Yves was craving authentic Japanese pizza and pasta and invited us to try out a place which was highly recommended by her Japanese friend. The place is called Kabe No Ana and it’s located in Nex Mall in Serangoon.

We ordered four pasta dishes and one pizza and they were quite good. I especially loved the pizza. So delicious! My favorite pasta was the one with bacon and shoyu sauce. I hate wasabi so I wasn’t too crazy about the one with wasabi sauce.

Yves wanted us to try the fermented soybeans because she says Japanese people love that and she was apparently one of the few non-Japs who liked it back in Japan. I didn’t like it; it was a tad bitter.

Shiso Kinoko Bacon | Perilla, assorted mushroom & bacon with shoyu sauce
Wasabi Mentaiko | Japanese silver anchovies & seaweed with spicy cod roe & wasabi sauce

After dinner we headed to Great Vines Bar & Bistro located at the new ARC mall. We had bought S$10 coupons from one of the deals sites (I forgot which one) which entitled us to bottomless cosmopolitans.

I could have as many as I wanted of these

We ordered lava cake with vanilla ice cream, nachos, and truffle fries as well. Then we drank to our heart’s content. I lost count of how many refills I had.

While drinking, we asked each other how things were going with our own lives and we all had nothing to share. How boring, right? So I suggested, “How about this to liven things up. We will pretend that it is five years from now, and we will talk about our lives as we want it to be then. Go!”

Too late we realized that the people from the nearby tables could actually hear us and might think that we really are immoral people. Oops.

And oh, if you’re curious, in my crazy world five years from now, I’m an LA-based scriptwriter married to Benedict Cumberbatch. We met when I went to London to watch him shooting for Sherlock. I asked for his autograph, told him about my blog, he checked it out and left a comment and… one thing led to another.

Cosmopolitans + a vivid imagination = a very fun night out

The bar closed at 11, so we had to leave. Yves and Arlyn went home, but Betchie and I were in the mood for dancing, so we hit Movida, a club at St James Powerstation, where ladies get free entry every night. Cool, right?

There was a live band that played latin songs and there was a lively, interesting crowd too. I spotted quite a few doppelgangers – Mark Zuckerberg, Josh Groban, Jack Black.

We also got free drinks from some German guy. It’s fun being a girl, isn’t it?

Then while I was dancing in the middle of the floor, I was shocked when a girl suddenly danced with me – it was Gelle! What a coincidence! She was with Joey and some of their friends celebrating someone’s birthday.

It was a very interesting night indeed. Maybe someday I will tell my kids about it, ala Ted Mosby. And who knows, if my imagination actually came true, they may even be half British. LOL. As if.
