The Saturday night before Halloween is always dress up night in Clarke Quay, Singapore’s night out zone. Betchie invited us to go in costumes, so I went as a devil because I had last year’s horns and didn’t want to spend too much or put too much effort into my outfit. It was fun to see all those people walking around in better costumes than me, though, including Betchie and her friends.
Betchie as Marilyn Monroe was popular that night, as lots of people asked to have their pics taken with her. There were some people, however, who actually didn’t know who she was supposed to be. Someone actually asked if she was Lady Gaga! Can you believe such people exist? I mean come on, Marilyn was an icon! Just like Audrey Hepburn, and we actually found her too:
Meanwhile, it turns out that the devil is popular with the boys because three men said “I love you” to me that night. My friends laughed at my reaction to the first one because I wanted to curl into a ball and replied with a timid, “thank you.” LOL.
The next time it happened, though, I was sitting up on a ledge which made one guy think I was Juliet and he was Romeo, so he came up to me, held my hand, and said, “Wo ai ni.” He was Caucasian and he probably thought I was chinese or something because that’s “I love you” in Chinese.
Then he asked me if Sash was my boyfriend and that he was better than him. Sash and I both said no, and I laughed and said “Wo ai ni too.”
With that, he left and pulled his friend to show me to him, saying, “This is my girlfiend.” His friend then took a look at me and said, “Wo ai ni!” whereupon the first guy said “No!!!!” and they pretended to fight over me. Hahaha! So funny. 😂
Another funny moment was one where I was able to be in character. We were standing around, sipping a mixture of Vodka and orange juice from plastic cups, when a guy dressed as Jesus passed by.
Betchie and I ran after him, and I called out to him, saying, “Jesus, can I tempt you?”
Jesus turned around and looked at me the devil and said, “Jesus cannot be tempted.”
I then asked, “Can I have a picture with you at least?”
He agreed. Haha! I realize now that maybe people will think that was blasphemous of me or something, but that totally was not my intention. +_+
We had plenty of other pictures with other characters that night. Check it out:
It was really fun to see all the costumes and we said that next year, we should have a theme as a group, like that group of people we saw all dressed as Batman characters or the ones who all wore Roman togas.
Then in our office, we also had dress up on Halloween itself.
So that Wednesday, I was Wednesday. Yes, I totally stole Betchie’s friend’s Bambi’s look. We were supposed to be the Addams family, but didn’t exactly manage to pull it off. LOL.
Oh well, at least we got candy! 😄
