We wanted a view of the yachts on Keppel Bay, so it was off to Prive Cafe for brunch for us. I had called a week ahead to make a reservation.
Funny story. While I was in line to get inside, I overheard the guy behind me telling his friend, “This place is really great, it fills up quickly, that’s why we had to come early. I tried to make a reservation but they don’t take it.”
Just then, a waitress asked me if I needed a table and for how many and I had to tell her that I had a reservation. The guy behind me heard that and complained, “Hey, I called and was told that you don’t take reservations? Then how come?”
I can’t remember what her explanation was. I guess maybe it was because I called a week ahead? Or maybe it was the timing (I had made a reservation for 11, most people apparently in the mid afternoon). I don’t know.
Anyway. When I got in, I was so hungry that I wanted to eat everything on the menu and could not decided which one I really wanted to order. So I texted my friends to ask if I could order ahead and could we get a bunch of food and just share because I wanted to try everything. They agreed.
So I ordered three different breakfasts and a mocha. When my friends arrived, they added a couple more. I didn’t regret anything. The food was delicious and we were so full that we couldn’t finish the fries.
My favorite was the Eggs Benedict and the sausage Bruschetta.
Then it got so hot that we decided to order milkshakes. Betchie and I got their bestselling berries and chocolate banana flavors, respectively, but it was Yves’s Baileys one that bested the lot.
After we had finished off most of the food, the girls presented me with their gifts.
Then they presented me with my cake, or should I say cakes, which I should say is/are the cutest birthday cake/s I have ever gotten in my lifetime. Aren’t they so pretty? There are 30 of them too. They were supposed to be in purple, by the way, but the bakery messed up. Nevertheless, still pretty.
Yves explained that we couldn’t eat the cupcakes in the restaurant because they charged a huge corkage fee for eating outside food, but she had asked the waitress if we could at least open it there and she had said okay.
She also pointed out that I had another bag for my birthday, and sure enough, there was a Chanel bag on one of the cupcakes! LOL! They had seen that I had already gotten four bags for my birthday, so since they were competitive, they got me a Chanel, they said jokingly. 😀
We left the restaurant so we could light up the candles for my cakes and eat them as well. So we found a spot outside, with a view of the yachts.
It was no easy task to stick a candle into each of the cupcakes and Yves probably burned her hands from lighting them all, so I am very grateful to these girls for all the effort to make one of my weird wishes come true – blow 30 candles out. For the second time! Yay! 🙂
And here are more pictures of the view and me with the girls.
This was a perfect way to end my birthday. 🙂
