One day in Sephora, I was browsing in the eyeliners section when I overheard a conversation between some customers and a saleslady:
This was excellent news for me because that was exactly what I wanted too! The waterline, by the way, refers to the lower inner rim of the eyelid just behind the lash line. Most girls just line above the eyes, but if you want to rock the Kate Middleton look, then you should put eyeliner on the waterline as well.

Now I myself like lining my waterline because it makes my eyes pop. See the difference below. The eye on the right looks better, right?
However I usually forego waterline lining because I know that at the end of the day, this is how I will look like:
That’s because bottom eyeliner smudges like crazy. A former colleague actually once complained to me about this and asked what the solution was. My answer then: don’t line under your eyes! Haha.
Now I know that I can use gel or liquid eyeliner for better staying power, but I don’t really like how those look because they look so harsh and so obviously made up. But now thanks to that saleslady, maybe I can line my waterline using a pencil! So I took a look at what she was recommending and got one for myself – it was a Sephora brand, so it was not so expensive at S$16. I decided on the “keep brown” shade instead of black because I read somewhere that black eyeliner is so harsh-looking and brown looks softer.
I’ve tried the product for several days now and the verdict? I love that its highly pigmented color glides on so easily, which is usually not the case for a pencil liner. It is also long-wearing and stays on for the entire day. It does smudge a bit, however, but not as much as other liners do. Or maybe I’m the one with the problem, I think I rub my eyes and don’t realize it! However, even though it states that it is “waterproof” that is not true. I had it on when I watched Safe Haven and it got smudged when I cried, but still only a little bit. So is it a good buy? Yes, I love it. Thanks, saleslady! I need to eavesdrop more, haha. 😀
