Last week, Mildred and I accidentally discovered an oasis in the middle of the city. Changi City Point, that is.
We were on our way home after work when we realized we hadn’t had dinner yet and decided to go for a quick bite to satiate our aching tummies. So we stopped by the aforementioned mall and headed to the basement where there are kiosks that sell snacks – Mr. Bean, Old Chang Kee, Gong Cha, etc. It was already very late (around 10pm), so some shops were already closed; Dred was disappointed that she could no longer buy her favorite cheesy chicken sausages from OCK. Luckily, Mr. Bean and Gong Cha were still open so we split up and bought tuna pancakes and silky soya pudding from the former and melon bubble teas from the latter.
While I was waiting for our orders in GC, my eyes absentmindedly wandered till they happened to land on this place, which was right in front of Gong Cha.
Now I had been to this Gong Cha many times, but somehow, I had never noticed this secluded glass-enclosed picnic area before! I noticed that there were some people inside, mostly parents with kids, happily eating food on stools and tables carved of stone. There was one free table so after I got my orders, I pushed the glass doors open and made a bee-line for it. Then when Dred came back for me, I frantically waved at her from inside the glass.

It was a beautiful spot, indeed an oasis with healthy green plants and a gurgling pond with colorful fishes in it. As we ate our delicious food, Dred started swaying her head from side to side and humming softly, which is her tell for being happy. I tease her about that, by the way. Haha. Before, she didn’t realize she was doing it!
Like this dog, Dred would not be good at poker |
I don’t know if I have a happiness tell, but I must have done it that day, too, because it must be impossible not to feel happy in such a peaceful and relaxing environment with happy food to boot! 😀
A relaxing oasis |
So if we have a bad day at work, we know exactly where to go now. 😉
I’ve become cross-eyed with bliss! XD |
