An amusing thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. We were on our way to Starz Restaurant when the woman in front of me, a total stranger, suddenly stopped me and asked: “Where did you buy that necklace?”
She was referring to this necklace |
“Umm… it was in…” I struggled to answer because I couldn’t remember the name of the shop where I bought it. Then I remembered that I had recently seen this same necklace elsewhere so I said, “…Cathay Cineleisure. There is a booth at the ground floor, that’s where I bought this.”
“Is it a jewelry store?” She asked.
“No, it’s just a booth,” I explained. “They sell other stuff too.”
“Oh you mean that’s just costume jewelry? How much did you buy it?”
“Yes, this isn’t real gold. I bought this for 10 dollars.”
“Wow, so cheap!” Then she actually held the necklace with her hands and took a closer look. “It’s very pretty and intricate. Maybe jewelry shops can copy it and make a real gold one.”

Then she finally left and I ran after my friends.
Actually this isn’t the first time that a stranger made a comment on this necklace. A taxi driver also noticed it and said it was very nice.
And now I remember that I actually bought that necklace at a shop called Hako in Nex Mall B2. It’s a consignment shop that rents out lockers to sellers so it’s a really good place for fab finds like this. 🙂
