I think this quote from the TV show Grey’s Anatomy is the best insight I’ve found on the subject of pursuing happiness.
In other words, as the words on my notebook says:
Sometimes we keep searching for that elusive “happiness,” thinking that we can’t be happy until we’ve reached a certain goal, or moved a to a certain place, or found the love of our life, like our main protagonist Ted Mosby in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. He wants to find her, the woman whom he would spend the rest of his life with. 8 seasons later, he still hasn’t found her, and he and the televiewers are beginning to get annoyed. Where is that damn woman? WE JUST WANT TO MEET HER ALREADY!!
Hold on, folks. In the words of that show’s character Robin Scherbatsky:
I know you want to meet her and see how it all ends but in the meantime, aren’t you enjoying the episodes leading up to that moment? So why can’t you just enjoy that and stop being so impatient?
(At this point I’m not really sure if I’m still addressing the televiewers and talking about How I Met Your Mother or speaking to, well, myself, about the sitcom that is my life. Haha!)
Speaking of joy in journeys, I am really enjoying myself in this A-Z blogging challenge! This is the first time I’ve joined a blog hop challenge and it has been so lovely to meet and make new blogger buddies. Since it’s day 10, let me share 10 new blogs I discovered almost halfway through this A-Z journey. Hop over to their blogs now! 😀

This post is part of the A to Z Challenge, a blog hop that goes through the alphabet for all the days of April except Sundays. I have decided to go with the theme of Alliterations.
Agree with you completely, Dee! This A 2 Z challenge has been one joyous journey so far! Glad to meet you through this and thanks for the mention! Appreciate it! 🙂
You're welcome! 😀
So true…we need to enjoy the journey. We need to be happy in this moment or we may never be happy. I'm so glad that I found your blog. Great insight. Hugs, Lura
Thanks Lura! Glad I found your blog too.
Absolutely! Enjoy the journey! That is what life is made up of. <br /><br />I'm totally getting antsy to meet the woman with the yellow umbrella, too! It has to happen soon because of the kids…<br /><br />Thanks so much for the mention!
It will happen this May! Less than 45 days to go as per the last episode…
Great post, Dee! Happiness is often in the smallest moments of our lives. This is my first time taking part in a blog tour, and I'm surprised at how much fun I'm having 🙂
Same here! It really is fun! Glad I joined!
So agree with this post! Life is all about joy in the moment. And thanks so much for the mention of my blog. I enjoy your posts!
You're welcome! I enjoy yours too. 🙂
Lovely post, Dee and very true. I think we have all had moments on our life where we are convinced we are climbing a mountain and are very near to reaching the top – Happiness – and when we get there we can just take a seat and enjoy the view. In reality, we are always climbing a mountain – but when we reach the top (whatever our latest goal might be) we look out and see that there is another,
I love your mountain analogy! So true!
I visited each of the blog links you listed…. What fun. Thanks and hugs, Grammy
So nice of you to! 😀
One of the truest, and possibly hardest, things. Every time I get blue, I try to remember this, but the wail still comes out, "why can't we just be HAPPY?"<br />It's a roller coaster, this life.
Yes it is really hard sometimes. It's a constant struggle. A roller coaster indeed!
This is my first time doing the challenge as well and it's been super fun! <br /><br />In my quest–searching for Joy–I find I'm my happiest when I'm writing regularly. I do worry about my published novel and marketing, but my true joy is when I'm 'creating'. <br /><br />Blogging A to Z Challenge
That is a perfect example of journey vs destination. 🙂
I love that you mention How I Met Your Mother. That's probably my favourite show right now!
Me too! It's so legen – wait for it – dary! Virtual five, bro – err – sis! 😀
Lovely to see that u took extra effort and an extra mile to share people's blogs <br />I never thought of doing that due to lack of timeand loved this post . Journey described so bfully
I know, this challenge is so time consuming! But having fun, so keeping at it.
