I’m sure you’ve noticed my spanking brand new header picture and you’re dying to know the story behind it.
The year was 2012, the year when the world was supposed to end. The place was Phuket. I was on a vacation with my Philippine-based friends Kes and Drew, and on our second day, we decided to check out the bars on Patong Beach.
There was a huge cluster of bars down there, and as we walked down the sidewalks to try to find a bar that we liked, we kept being accosted by salespeople hawking sex shows using menus, like they were just selling food in a restaurant. We kept shaking our heads at them and at one point, after we had said no to a live sex show, the hawker looked at Kes, and then at me, and then suddenly asked, “Lesbian show?” Drew nearly died laughing after that incident.
We eventually found a nice-looking bar where we took seats, ordered drinks, and watched a live band performing on a small stage. After a while, it suddenly started to rain, like pouring buckets. The bar was an open one without a door and was just on the side of the road, so a few of the customers went out into the rain, right smack in the middle of the road, and started dancing.
When Kes saw them, she turned to us and said, “I’m jealous! I wanna do that too!”
You have to admit, it was a crazy idea, but it was so crazy that I wanted to do it too.
So out we went, and we danced and whooped and everyone in all the bars on that road looked at us. Most of them probably thought we were crazy, but I’m sure some of them wanted to join us too.
We convinced Drew to join us, with Kes saying, “Come on, when else can you do something like this?” She had a point, of course. And we ended up not only dancing on that street in front of the bar, but actually walking all the way back to our hotel, in the pouring rain. A 30-minute walk, mind.
But it was fun. It really really was. Drew kept on shaking his head every once in a while and laughingly say, in amusement and amazement, “I can’t believe we did this!”
I consider that moment to be the highlight of that trip.

It is crazy spontaneous moments like this that I live for, that make life seem a little bit more exciting, a little less mundane and boring.
It is crazy spontaneous moments like this that I want to remember and record and tell everyone about, through this blog.
That is why I chose that picture to be my header.

cool pic Dee – lol always offputting when someone is asked to see a lesbian show … met some rather eye opening hawkers in Pat Pong.
