Today is election day in the Philippines but I already voted because I am an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) and we have a different schedule in our embassy. I went with my friends Yves and Betchie. Our voter’s registration last 2009 was still valid, so we headed to the embassy last Saturday to exercise our right of suffrage.
On the embassy wall |
How can you resist Piolo Pascual? Haha. Piolo is a popular actor in the Philippines |
The normally full waiting area is empty because all other transactions except voting have been ceased for weekends |
The verification counter, where you hand in your IC and they verify if you’re registered |
We were all assigned to precinct 1 |
Closer look at that poster |

Behind that wall was a small waiting room with less than 10 armchairs. The voting process was the same as last 2010, when I last voted and which I wrote about in detail here, except that this time around, they no longer stained our fingers with indelible ink, which was fine by me. There were so few people that the entire process, including the picture-taking, took all of 15 minutes.
Yves asked the attendants how many OFWs had voted so far and she said 7000. That’s a good number.
If you’re a Filipino, please exercise your right to vote! If you don’t know whom to vote for, this list is a good reference. Mabuhay! 😀
