Two Saturdays ago, I attended a baby shower for my friend Nikki’s sister Balot (that’s her nickname). It was held in Pasir Ris park. It rained on them while I was on my way there, so the poor guys got wet even though they took shelter under a small roofed hut because the winds were so strong that it blew all the rain in. The park also got so wet that there were puddles we had to wade through on the way there, and these puddles had lots of earthworms, for some reason. There was a lot of screeching all over the park thanks to this, and we even saw a girl asking her boyfriend to carry her because she couldn’t stand these wriggling creatures. Like, seriously? Nevertheless, we still ended up really enjoying ourselves at the shower, realizing the irony that a real shower happened on a shower.

Nikki had enlisted the help of our friend Joc to organize the shower, since Joc is good at that sort of thing. Joc helped come up with the ideas for the souvenirs, found the bears, and even cut out the cards that accompanied each bear herself.
