Mischief Managed

It’s my younger brother Ivan’s birthday today, so I would like to share a childhood moment that I had with him.

I can’t remember what age we were then, but one day, our dad (it was probably him, since Mom takes bad photos; she always ended up cutting off people’s heads in the picture) said, come on, let’s take a picture!

Our college-aged cousin Henry was living with us then. It was hot so he was lounging around the house topless and he didn’t want his naked upper body to be shown in the pic, so he asked me and my brother to sit on his lap to cover him. I guess he was too lazy to run upstairs to his room to grab a shirt.

So we did just that, but I plotted a conspiracy with my brother. I think it was my idea, because I’m the one with the “plotting villain” face on in the picture. As you can see in the above picture, my brother and I were not looking at the camera because we were too busy planning. What were we planning? That we would expose our cousin’s upper body for the camera! Muahahahahahaha!
And so, at the word “go!” we jumped off Kuya* Henry’s lap and pinned his ams with a strong hold (at least I did, look at my very determined expression in the picture below while I don’t know what Ivan was doing) so that he couldn’t cover himself up. 

Click! Moment captured! We pulled off our diabolical scheme! Muahahahahaha!

  55. I was the oldest and only child for a full 8 years… and the first grandchild by far on both sides too. So my older cousins (my parents younger cousines) meant the world to me, like big siblings. And I was an older cousin to many as well. They are such important relationships in a close extended family–thanks for reminding me!
