On our third day in Taiwan, we were booked for a half day tour, so we decided not to waste the first half of the day by checking out an attraction near our hotel, the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Park. It was really quite gorgeous, with lots of beautiful buildings and landscapes. Wouldn’t you agree?
We were most amused by the divided sky – one side was a beautiful blue like in the pictures above, but the other side was an angry black.
There were also some food stalls in that park and we were able to grab some street eats, but it wasn’t enough, so after we were done looking around the place, we walked towards a popular restaurant which we discovered online, which happened to be very near our hotel! How lucky is that?
Jin Feng Lu Rou Fan (金峰滷肉飯), 10 Roosevelt Road, Section 1, Jhongjheng District, Taipei City
There was a queue outside the place, which is always a good sign! We did not stay in there but decided to get some takeaway and eat it in the hotel instead, where we could be more comfortable.
Our research showed that their must try dishes are lor bak png (braised pork rice) and kong bak png (pork belly rice), so we ordered a few of those. They were really quite sumptuous and filling, both dishes marinated in premium dark soya sauce and spices for hours until the meat turns so tender. My mouth watered as I typed this. Drats.
Here we are goofing off while eating our lunch in our hotel room.
After lunch we girls decided to take out our early Christmas presents for each other. This was in November but we had decided that since we wouldn’t be able to see each other during Christmas, it would be a good idea to exchange gifts early.
I loved all my presents (necklace, perfume, home scents) and I even got a card with a touching letter. Merry Christmas to me! 😀
