To all the people who have been waiting for this sequel, I am sorry. I did not mean to make you wait this long, seriously, I am no torturer like Moffat. I meant to continue immediately but I got distracted by life and a bunch of things, so…
Meanwhile, to those who have no idea what I’m talking about, as the title implies, this story had a part 1. So if you haven’t read it yet, I suggest you do that so this will make a lot more sense (and also coz you missed out on a funny internal monologue). Go on, then! I’ll wait.
Done?
So we continue our story in the same bar where I had been dancing with the same guy for about 2 hours and I knew nothing about him except that he was tall and lean and smelled really nice and could dance a mean salsa.
“Do you want a drink?” he asked. Finally, I heard his voice!
“So where are you from?” I asked after we had exchanged names. This is actually a very normal question in Singapore, where there are lots of expats (or what they call “foreign talent”), but in his case he was obviously a foreigner, being caucasian and all.
“Paris,” he replied.
“Oh, you mean this?” I replied, gesturing to my earrings, which, if you had been paying close attention to part 1, were shaped like the Eiffel Tower. I don’t know if what I said was clever or pathetic. You decide.
He explained that he was here on a holiday, that he was backpacking all over Asia and this wasn’t his first stop. Ever the helpful person, my response to that was to suggest tourist spots for him to visit, which was not a very easy thing to do in a very noisy, crowded club, may I add.
“SENTOSA!” I said more loudly. He finally took out his phone and asked me to type that out, along with other tourist spots. I wrote it all down and said, “But if there’s one place you really should go to, it’s definitely Sentosa.”
He looked at me and asked, “Zen weel you come wiz me? Tomorrow?” That’s what it sounded like, anyway. The French accent is so sexy!”I’m sorry, but I already have plans for tomorrow,” I apologized. “I’m meeting some of my close friends.”
I wasn’t playing hard to get. I really did have plans with my friends, and if there’s one thing I’m not, it’s a girl who ditches friends for some random guy whom she had known for less than three hours. Even if he came from the city she loved so much that she often accessorized with its landmark.”Sunday, then?” he pleaded. I didn’t have any excuses left.
We went back to the dance floor and danced until the bar closed at around 4am. This is definitely the latest time I have ever been out in a bar my whole life.
A’s guy, who turned out to be a Russian, wanted to continue the party back in Avatar, which closed at 6am. I begged off because my head was killing me, I don’t know if it was the vodka or lack of sleep. Maybe both.
The guys walked us to the taxi line. My feet were killing me too by then, so I slipped off my stiletto heels and walked barefoot through the mall. I didn’t care what he thought. I thought I’d never see him again.
We girls jumped into the first cab we saw and B shook her head in incredulity. “I honestly wouldn’t have minded if you had left with them!” she said.
“Are you kidding?” A exclaimed. “That Russian guy was scary!”
“He did seem kinda scary,” B agreed. “But what about you? Your guy looked all right,” she said to me.
“He was all right, I suppose, but we didn’t really get to talk much,” I said. “And I judge guys based on personality, so I don’t know.”
“But he did ask for your contact details, right?” B went on.
“Yeah, he said he wanted us to go to Sentosa on Sunday.”
“So let’s just wait for him to contact you, then.”
“Nah, I don’t think he will,” I said dismissively. “He was probably looking for a one-night-stand, and I gave him a literal one… we stood all night. He didn’t get what he wanted so he’s not gonna contact me. He’s just here on holiday anyway.”
“You never know, girl,” B chided.
My head really was killing me, so the minute I got home I jumped straight into bed and fell asleep with all my clothes on, a hint of Monsieur from the bar’s cologne sending me to sleep.
I woke up at noon. I would gladly have slept the whole day but I had an appointment with my friends, remember? In my rush to get dressed and on the way, I only remembered to check my email while I was in the MRT, and to my surprise, I saw this sitting in my inbox:
I hope you went back quickly to your home. For me it was really fast. I already took a shower. I had a great night with you. I wish you a good Saturday with your best friend and friends, if I understood well. Tomorrow I will buy a phone card, and I’ll visit the city and take pictures. See you on Sunday ! Have a good night if you read the email right now!
Kiss (that we unfortunately did not do before you left! 😉 )
I’m sorry that I have to end this again, because I am writing this on a deadline. I have to publish it tonight, and you know why? Because look at the date.
I promise to continue the rest very soon! Besides, trilogies are cooler than two-parters, right?
UPDATE:Â You can read part 3 here.
