A Great Gatsby Christmas Party

Last Sunday we held our annual Christmas party for LZ (hometown friends based in Singapore).

Feliz-Pascua

As usual we had a theme, but instead of the usual color scheme theme, this time we went with The Great Gatsby because why not?

I used an old headband which I wore as a bridesmaid flower girl for Chi’s wedding years ago, borrowed a long necklace from Joc, and wore these with an LBD, dangling earrings, and Mac Russian Red lipstick. I so so love this solo pic that Brian took of me and promptly used it as my profile pic on all my social media accounts. LOL.

Christmas Great Gatsby

Even our food had a Great Gatsby centerpiece, thanks to Elma who ordered cupcakes that fit the theme! She even went to the trouble of buying that pretty serving tray for it!

There were a few cupcakes that were different, though, as they were for Tyne, who is leaving Singapore soon to move to Canada. So those are travel or Canada-themed. So cute too!

We also brought other food, and as per tradition, Mark cooked his famous humba. After stuffing ourselves, we exchanged Secret Santa presents while singing the song “I love my manita yes I do (repeat 3x) I love my manita but I won’t tell you.” Turns out Maya had picked my name; she gave me a pretty pink sports watch. After that, everyone went around and gave their personal gifts.

Tyne and I then hosted a couple of games. We divided them into 3 groups, and they battled it out with singing as many unique Christmas carols as they could before moving on to the game “paint me a picture.” Here are some of the pictures they “painted.”

The boys (and Elma) won this. We asked Jean’s flatmates to be the judges.

We had Skype sessions with friends who are no longer in Singapore, namely Ervyn, Monet, and Rodel.

We even had Ervyn join in blowing out the candles on the birthday cakes for the November and December babies. LOL.

Birthday

We ended the night by watching a bunch of Youtube videos I made from Christmases past which inspired us to make an impromptu one that involved us dancing. I haven’t gotten around to making that yet, so watch out for it!

Meanwhile, you can check out this video we made on our very first Christmas party back in 2009.

It was really fun and festive Christmas party, and I’m really really glad to have these guys!
