The Mystery of the Belgian Chocolates

When I came back to work after 2 weeks of holiday vacation, I found these on my desk.

Aside from the two boxes of The Belgian Chocolates, there was a farewell card from my friend Nikki and a post-it note with the words “WHERE WERE YOU?” on my PC’s screen, an inside joke I had with my former team.

Upon seeing Nikki’s card, I assumed that the chocolates were from her too. So I thanked her for the card and chocolates, but she said the chocolates were not from her, but from our company. I then found the email about it and was satisfied.

But then my friend Merci dropped by my desk and asked, “Why do you have two boxes of chocolates? Everyone else only has one.”

Sure enough, she was right. So I wondered where the other box of chocolates came from and asked everyone who seemed like a likely suspect if they had been the one to give their share to me. But I was wrong each time.

So until now, I have no idea who was the good samaritan who gave it!

Oh well, I’ll just enjoy this random act of kindness, eh?

These tiramisu pralines or bonbons are to die for! They are quite possibly the most delicious chocolates I have ever tasted in my life. No wait, I realise that it’s only second to Royce nama chocolates. But still.

So thank you, my company and mysterious giver, whoever you are!
