Fresh Fruits Lab {Foodee}

My friends wanted to have brunch yesterday, so since we’re all in the east, we decided to check out a cafe on Changi Road called Fresh Fruits Lab.

What makes Fresh Fruits Lab different from other cafes I’ve ever been to is its cute and quirky Science theme. They serve water in beakers and complimentary fruit juice in test tubes.

Fresh Fruits Lab makes delicious brunches. Here’s what I ordered.

MESSY BREAKFAST ($17)
Truffle infused scrambled eggs on a toasted English muffin, roasted sweet potatoes, bacon-wrapped pineapple, oxford sausages, roasted tomatoes, and fruity salad

What made me order this was seeing the word “truffle” thrown in there. I love truffle oil so much! The bacon-wrapped pineapple was definitely interesting and something I’ve never had before. The set is a bit big, though, and I had a hard time finishing everything on my plate. Perhaps this can be for sharing.

Meanwhile, my friends ordered these:

EGGS BENEDICT ($13)
Poached farm eggs with smoked bacon, toasted English muffin, and fruity salad, topped with Hollandaise sauce

EGGS FLORENTINE ($14)
Poached farm eggs with chicken ham, baby spinach, smoked bacon, toasted English muffin and fruity salad, topped with Hollandaise

I know, they look very similar, right? The main difference is that one has bacon while the other has chicken ham. There is one more similar thing on the menu called Blackstone, which has the same poached eggs, but with bacon and mushroom this time.

BANANALICIOUS PANCAKES ($11)
Banana infused pancakes, topped with bananas and drizzled with maple syrup

We shared the pancakes, and we thought the bananas were a nice touch. They’re not the best pancakes in Singapore, but they will do.

RAINBOW CAKE

The rainbow cake is neither pretty nor delicious. It’s too dry. We had to practically force everyone to finish it, and there were just 2 slices of cake for a group of 7.

I also had mint mocha to chase all the food down and it was yummy.

We loved the charming decors and the overall ambiance of the cafe. They had so many picturesque corners and even had jars full of “picture booth” props you could use for group pictorials against their pretty wall.

The service was good, too. The waitstaff were very nice. It took a really long time for my order to arrive, though (Nantoy had to follow up on my behalf, what a nice guy), so I guess I would not recommend going there when you’re famished, which I was not.

Overall, I would recommend Fresh Fruits Lab if you’re looking to have brunch in a cafe in the east. Everyone in the group was happy with the food and place, and it wasn’t crowded, even on a Sunday morning.
