When my friend Kes was in Singapore for a layover flight, we met up, and after an afternoon of shopping and chatting, we decided to have dinner at Sushi Goshin in Suntec City, since sushi is her favourite food.
Our most favourite dish was the aburi foie gras sushi which was so heavenly that we ordered a second helping of it!
This was my first time to hear about aburi sushi. Apparently it is roasted sushi and consists of nigiri sushi with a fish topping that is partly grilled and partly raw. If you know someone who can’t stand raw food, then you can let them try this.
We had another one which was the aburi salmon sushi, and it was also so delicious!
It looks like I have just found my most favourite sushi place EVER.
We also enjoyed the rest of our meal, seen below.
The salmon sashimi was so fresh! According to the Suntec official website, their menu boasts the finest ingredients imported from Japan which are personally bought by their staff in Japan from Tsukiji market and air-flown to Singapore daily.
I liked the mixed sushi set as well. It comes with a plate of different kinds of sushi, a bowl of shredded cabbage, miso soup, and watermelon slices. I really loved mixing the cabbage with the Japanese dressing, and I liked it so much that I finished most of it even though it was supposed to be for sharing. Oops. Sorry, Gelle and Kes!
Even though we had already ordered green tea, I craved for something cold to drink, so I got this glass of iced lemon tea. It came with a side of syrup for sweetening, and I poured a bit in it and thought it wasn’t sweet enough and ended up pouring everything in before realizing that I had just not stirred it well. Once I did, it was too sweet! Oops.
The place is really pretty, too. It has nice Japanese-looking wooden interiors with widely spaced tables and lovely lighting. Apparently they wish to give diners an experience as though they are dining in Japan’s shop houses.
Their waitresses wear Japanese kimonos, adding to the Japanese feel of the place.
Their service is good, and they are quite high tech, too. Their menu is on an ipad that is strapped to the table, and you could just scroll through it, tap on your choices, and submit them. Minutes later, they deliver your food. So brilliant, right?
I would definitely recommend this place!
