Armar discovered rainbow lemonade on Instagram, so we just had to go check it out even though it was located in the far flung neighbourhood of Clementi.
We were afraid that after traveling by MRT and bus, we would be disappointed with the place, but we were pleasantly surprised with how beautiful it was!
The lights and decors on the ceiling and charming wooden furniture gave it such a rustic vibe. The fact that there were few people around was a huge bonus, too! Usually that’s bad news because it means bad food, but in this case it was probably just because of its distant location and the off peak time.
The first thing we asked the waitress was if they had the rainbow lemonade, to which she said yes. Kudos to that waitress, by the way, for putting up with all our nonsense. She quickly understood that our priority was to take pictures of the food and asked us if we wanted everything served together rather than the desserts being served later, which is usually the case. She even took photos of us at our request, too. Thanks, waitress! 😀
So you’ve already seen that we ordered the rainbow family, as you saw in the first pic. We thought the rainbow lemonade came in a huge pitcher, but it turns out they are served in tiny single serve pitchers. Aside from that they also had another rainbow drink called the snowy paddle pop, which was what I ordered. Each drink costs $7.50. They were all refreshing and had the same base, just that mine had a vanilla ice cream topping instead of a citrus one like theirs did.
We ordered some savoury dishes as well.
We always order truffle fries whenever we see it on the menu. This was generous on the truffle oil, with just the right crispiness. I loved it!
Fresh medley of ocean prawns, scallops, and clams sautéed with shitake mushrooms, tossed in red chilli and garlic in olive oil. This was decent. Not the best aglio olio ever, but good enough.
This chicken was delicious, the marinade soaking all the way into the bones. The presentation was really nice, too, how cute are those fries in its own fries basket? I would definitely recommend ordering this for one of your mains.
Here’s another look at that rainbow cake.
It’s prettier and brighter than most rainbow cakes I’ve seen, but to be honest, it tasted boring. When I took my first bite, I said, “It’s… sweet. That’s it.” It was like chiffon cake with lots of icing in between, so all you can taste is the icing.
Their warm chocolate pudding was served with homemade vanilla ice cream and a dash of vanilla sauce. It was perfect. It had a real, bittersweet chocolate taste and is better than other lava cakes I’ve had.
In conclusion, it was worth visiting the place, so you can relax in the pretty place and take pictures of the pretty food which tasted pretty good, but not so damn good that you’d want to keep coming back for them, probably. But still, still worth one trip.
