My Harrowing Taxi Tale

I had such a harrowing ordeal on my way to get my visa at the French embassy today.

The time frame to get the visa was between 12 to 12:30pm, so I left the office at 11:45am and took a cab from there.

The moment I sat down, I was annoyed because of the smell of the cab.

Then when I arrived at the embassy at 12:05, I had to pay by nets because I only had $4 in cash. But the driver’s nets machine wouldn’t work! #FML

So I said can we look for an ATM? He drove to this mall which was several blocks away.

I ran inside and asked someone if there was a DBS atm nearby. Luckily, there was. See, that’s the reason why I prefer to keep my cash in my DBS account, coz you can always count on them in case of emergencies!

There was a queue and by the time I got back in the cab it was almost 12:20.

Which is fine, it should take about 5min to drive back to the embassy, right?

Wrong.

The road was such that you can’t just take a U turn anywhere, and we had to drive a long way in the opposite direction before we could turn back!

So what should have taken less than 5 minutes took more than 10.

I was so stressed out during the entire drive and must have looked at my watch 100x.

By the time I was back in front of the embassy, I had less than 5 minutes to spare, and my cab meter was $5 higher.

I’m just glad I made it on time!

On the way in, I thought to myself, my visa better be approved to make all that worth it!

I went up to the counter to collect my passport and…

My Schengen visa was approved!

Well you know what they say, all’s well that ends well!
