Life is funny sometimes.
When my flatmates Nantoy and Monica announced that they were leaving for Japan, we had to find someone to take over their bedroom. That stressed me out a little bit because I don’t like living with strangers.
It was a very lucky coincidence that the youngest sister of two of my besties (Chi and AA) happened to be moving to Singapore at around the same time they were leaving, so I asked them if she would be interested in the room. They didn’t actually let her make the decision. Her bossy elder sister Chi decided it for her. 😅 And that is how Chiara aka Binbin ended up being my new flatmate.
Binbin told me that she really loved our flat and its location, so she was really happy about this decision, in the end. Her family is also very happy that their family’s baby is living with a friend they all know and not a bunch of random potentially psycho strangers. They don’t know I’m actually a psycho too. 😜
Yesterday, the two of us went shopping in Suntec and ended up liking and buying the same sunglasses. When I told her sisters about it, Chi said: “You’re so cute! It’s like you have an instant little sister!” 😂
Binbin is flying to Manila to meet her family for the weekend, so I bought some salted egg yolk potato crisps for Chi at Pasarbella, where we also had late lunch.
I also bought some for myself, and we ate it over dinner at home with Jemma. They’re really delicious!
At home, Binbin handed me this brush.
“I just found this now. We were in Primark when Ate Chi saw this brush, chose this specifice color, and insisted that I buy it for you so you could brush your hair.”
Hahaha thanks Chi and Binbin! It’s a really nice brush, by the way, it’s so big that it sweeps the whole head quite easily, and the bristles feel nice on the scalp.
I have a long history with their family.
AA and I were both mainstays of the library when we were kids, but we were not friends then. Chi was my classmate in high school, but we were not close then. We became close friends in Singapore.
Their dad became my teacher and org moderator in college. Their mom was my main contact in the government office that gave me my college scholarship, and we even have a picture together in an old newspaper of our hometown.
I knew Binbin as a little girl who was always hanging out at her father’s office, which was also my hangout back in college. She’s about a decade younger than me. I never would have thought I’d end up being flatmates with Binbin, yet here we are.
