2016 has been a pretty crazy year for the world in general, thanks to a lot of “I did not see that coming” moments.
I wouldn’t say my 2016 was bad, though. It wasn’t one of my most memorable years ever, certainly not up there with 2008 (when I moved to Singapore) or 2014 (when I switched careers), but it was pretty great, I have to say.
Here are the highlights of my 2016:
โ I moved into a flat with friends and have my own bedroom again. ๐
โ Reunion with my family in Manila before my brother moved to US with his wife.
โ I was a bridesmaid for my friend AA’s destination wedding in Bohol.
โ Boracay beach vacation with college friends Flisha and Chu. The highlight of this trip was a hilarious parasailing experience with Flisha.
โ Watched 3 musicals – Les Miserables, Book of Mormon, and Aladdin (the latter two in London). They were all very nice! Les Mis was my fave among the three, though.
โ Bought a bike and named it BB8.
โ Netflix was launched in Singapore and I fell in love with some of its shows – The IT Crowd, Brooklyn 99, Black Mirror, and Master of None. Somewhat related: also discovered chromecast and fell in love with it, too.
โ Had my first goddaughter – Gay’s baby Jana. Had my first nephew – my brother’s baby Zeth.
โ Went crazy for Pokemon Go.
โ Traveled to UK and toured Jersey channel islands, Edinburgh, and London and got to visit two close friends based there – Zenie and AA. Had the most memorable birthday of my life as it was not only my first time to travel on my birthday, I also lost my passport. I found it the next day.
โ Did the mannequin challenge during a work dinner.
โ Won $500 travel voucher from our Casino Royale themed yearend dinner and dance at work.
โ Met Philippine President Duterte in Singapore meet and greet. It was my first time to ever see a president in person.
โ I was maid of honor for college friend Flisha’s wedding in our hometown, so I got to go home for the holidays.
โ Said goodbye to quite a lot of friends: Gelle, Joey, Cate, Tatsie, Armar, and Andy moved to Australia at different times throughout the year, Jefrey moved to Hong Kong, and Nantoy and Monica moved to Japan.
Now I’ve laid them all down like that, I realize that a lot of things happened in my 2016 after all.
I’m hoping for more in 2017.
