Team Christmas Dinner @ Bistro Du Vin

My team had our Christmas dinner at Bistro Du Vin at Zion Road last night. Before choosing the place, we had to go through a complicated voting process because that’s just how we like to do things. 😁

And so, our exchange gifts theme was complicated as well, because our team does not do mainstream. Last year’s theme was movies. This year we decided to do “Major things that happened in 2016.”

While waiting for our orders to arrive, we dug into delicious bread and butter and exchanged gifts first.

What could be in these boxes?!? 😯

We drew numbers and Nic was up first. He decided to pick Guohao’s “I didn’t see that coming” gift. Cards Against Humanity! I’ve always wanted one.

Carly was up next. She picked my “Brexit/Trump” gift. 😜 I chose stress relief because a lot of people needed it after Brexit and Trump won.

Yan Ming then decided to go for Carly’s “Trump/Kardashians” gift. Carly explained that the multiple faces were just like Trump’s inconsistent statements and a Kardashian relationship that was apparently based on lies.

I was up next, and I decided to risk Nic’s vague “make it or break it” gift, which turned out to be a lego Snorlax.

That meant that Guohao was left with Yan Ming’s “Trump/Brexit/Iphone 7” gift – standard earphones, because all 3 themes meant their choices had to deal with consequences.

The fact that we managed to do all these in a restaurant tells you that it is one with a cozy atmosphere, great for catching up.

The food eventually got served and it was all scrumptious.

Charcuteries. Assiette of pork pâté, smoke duck breast, duck rillettes, Iberico ham & saucisson.
Foie Gras Poélé. Pan-seared foie gras with warm onion marmalade & spice bread.
Gratin Dauphinois (side for the steak)
Angus prime rib. Chargrilled 150 days grain-fed Stockyards, Australia 1kg.
Suckling pig confit (Christmas menu only)

My faves were the foie gras, gratin (because it’s so cheesy!), and suckling pig confit. The crispy skin on that last one was on point!

I am not really a fan of steak, so I can’t comment on it, but my teammates said it was good.

Overall, it was a great team Christmas dinner. 😊
