This Monday morning when I arrived at the office, I realized I had forgotten my access card and had to ask an SVP to help buzz me in.
“I don’t know you,” he jokingly said as he tossed his access card over the gantry to me. “I really don’t.”
Then when I sat down at my desk, I realized that I had forgotten something more important.
“Omigod I did something stupid,” I groaned out loud, my head in my hands. “I forgot my laptop at home.”
My teammates burst out laughing.
“There’s a first time for everyone!” I protested. This had happened to 3 others before.
“Do you just want to work from home?” My manager asked.
“Oh, is that really okay?” I asked, coz we don’t really have a work from home policy.
“Sure, no point in shuttling back and forth,” he replied. “And I want to make your Monday a bit better.”
“Thanks!” I said. I grabbed my stuff and started to walk out, shaking my head in amusement. “This is epic!”
“It really is!” They agreed, laughing heartily. “Thanks for brightening up our Monday!”

At least the day got better instead of worse. 🙂 I don’t think I’ve ever forgotten my computer, but have driven over an hour into one of our offices only to realize I didn’t have my access token to get into my computer. I guess that’s about the same. 😀
