You know what’s one way to make a woman’s day? Send her flowers!
I just did this recently, to my friend Dred.
If you’ve been following this blog, you probably know who she is. She is one of my closest friends, who is also my flatmate and officemate.
Well, she’s going to be leaving Singapore for good soon, so I’ve been trying to help her tick off some stuff off her Singapore bucket list. It turns out that one of those happens to be receiving flowers in the office.
I accidentally found out about this one time when I overheard her talking to our friend about it. They were giggling about a fresh hire who had just received fresh flowers at work, and they both mentioned that they had never even received flowers in the more than five years they were in the company.
Coincidentally, I had just heard about A Better Florist. I decided to collaborate with them, then I think you know what happened next.
I asked them to send flowers to Dred at the office, on the day I came back from my trip to the Philippines.
I didn’t include a note with the flowers, so Dred didn’t know where it came from – but she blamed our friend for it. 😂 He was adamant that it wasn’t him, of course.
Dred loved the flowers, and asked us to confess that it came from us so she could thank us properly. She was sure that it came from our team, because we are known for pulling creative pranks.
I didn’t admit it immediately, though. But after a while, I told her the truth, because I didn’t want her to go on wondering about this or worse, think that it was a secret admirer forever. I am not cruel. After I did, she posted the below photo on Instagram.
“Sweet friends are the bestest! Thank you for the pretty flowers. I like ’em and love the mason jar😍 #sweetsurprise #happymonday #pranksterbutsweetfriend @deecoded”
The funny thing was that she kept on gushing about the rustic mason jar over the flowers. Not that the blooms weren’t lovely, though! She later gushed about how looking at them improved her work stress and made her happy, and that she wants to keep buying fresh flowers from now on. So I’m so grateful to A Better Florist for helping me make Dred’s day.
This specific flower arrangement is called “The Spring Breeze” and is described as: “This wonderful coming together of some of our most luscious blooms evokes that special time of year when everything is brimming with life and full of joy. Comes with our signature rustic mason jar, so you can easily place and admire.”
I actually didn’t pick this arrangement, but I’m glad they picked it for me. It had a combination of roses and daisies and that pretty mason jar which we can now use as our vase and restock with fresh flowers once these ones wilt.
But if roses or daises or rustic vases aren’t your thing, they have a wide range of options. Right now, they are offering the below fresh flowers on the A Better Florist website, with free same-day delivery islandwide in Singapore.
They are all very pretty! I am really partial to those tulips on the upper left hand corner, myself.
But if you don’t quite like these, not to worry. They also offer customisable flowers for all special occasions and holidays.
So if you’re thinking of surprising a loved one with fresh flowers, check out the A Better Florist website and take your pick!

What a cool idea, Dee! All of those arrangements are gorgeous. I’m partial to the tulips as well, but my wife would pick the sunflowers every time. Flowers do have a way of brightening the day, don’t they?

Sunflowers look so friendly – no wonder your wife loves them! 🙂
