Farewell Prank for Carly

Before I got into the office today, I received a message from Yan Ming. “From your secret admirer,” he said of this pic:

Sure. 😒

Of course I knew that it was a farewell present from Carly. By farewell present I mean I’m not the one leaving, but rather, she is. That’s a thing in our company, though usually people just give sweets. Carly did give sweets in the form of chocolates, then went the extra mile with a pretty planner that suits me.

The chocolates are Royce nama chocolates, one of my most fave chocolates ever, and here’s a closer look at the planner.

We then headed to Table Manners for lunch.

After we had polished off our meals, we gave Carly our farewell present – an oral care travel kit.

But wait – before you judge us for being either stingy or insulting, take a closer look at each individual item. One of them is not what it seems!

Need a hint? It’s the floss.

Yep – Apple airpods. 😆

We can’t take full credit for this idea. We had already bought the airpods when I happened to see someone post about how his wife pranked him by disguising air pods as floss on Reddit.

So I suggested doing it, too, and Guohao added the idea of buying a whole travel pack to make it even less obvious.

So I bought an Oral B floss and got Guohao to peel off the sticker with a cutter. (I don’t trust myself to do it. Knowing me, I’d probably accidentally slice myself in the process.) He managed to get it off, after which, I stuck the sticker on the airpods case.

It managed to fool not just Carly, but a bunch of other people as well.
