I turned a year older on the 7th of this month and had a happy birthday thanks to my friends.
Walking on Sunshine
On the day itself, I had lunch with my friends Elma and Brian and their son Bryce. I chose to go to Walking on Sunshine Cafe because I had been there before and love its cozy ambiance, which makes it feel like you’re dining in a garden.
Their food is not bad as well. My faves are their signature soufflé’s pancake and coconut smoothie coffee. The coconut and coffee blend may sound weird but it’s a dream combo for someone who loves both. I was also very happy to be able to eat pizza, since I had been craving for it the night before.
After lunch, we walked over to the famous Library@Orchard to take some photos.
Luna Spa & FOC Sentosa
The next day, Jemma and I headed to the Amara Sanctuary Resort in Sentosa to get joint birthday massages at their Luna Spa. Jemma is my flatmate and she also celebrated her birthday that week, on the second. We bought vouchers from Fave and enjoyed the relaxing aromatherapy massage.
After our massage, we headed to FOC Sentosa and caught the sunset on the beach while having dinner with Jo.
I love FOC’s Spanish tapas and most especially their cider sangria, which is so refreshing. We finished two pitchers.
Team Surprise
My team spent a week pretending that they had forgotten my birthday but not doing a very good job at it.
On Friday the 13th, they got the receptionist to call me and ask me to take a package, which was a carrot cake – not the Western kind, but the one made of radish. It had a strange message on it. Who is Bao? Not my teammates. I’ll explain later.
Then our colleague Alan, who just “happened” to be on his way up from ground to fifth floor, led me to the rest of the surprise which involved a recycled white board and a low calorie ice cream made of dark chocolate and coconut milk. Yum!
Presents
I loved all the presents that I got from my friends, especially those that were picked from the Wish List that I posted! 😆
The first one I got was a couple of days before my birthday. In our chatroom, my friends asked if I know anyone named Bao. I said no, why? Turns out they had sent a package to my address and it had been received by someone named Bao. They thought he was my secret boyfriend! So hilarious.
I set the record straight and said that I share my address with a clinic below our flat, and that was probably the receptionist.
This is the reason behind the note I got from my teammates.
The present? An air fryer! “Our air fryer adventures have come full circle!” said their message. I laughed because there is a funny story which involves an air fryer somewhere in our history, but it’s rather long so maybe I’ll save it for another time.
I also got a couple of flower bouquets, Becca lipstick, Noshu sugar free brownie mix (all the way from Sydney), Quay shades, Alyssa Ashley body lotion, Mango coin purse, a customised tote bag, and lots of greetings with videos, pictures, and messages on the Internet.
