For our Christmas team outing, my team decided to have mini golf at Holey Moley in Clarke Quay on the 19th.
But before that, we met up for dinner at Hot Stones, where the food was pretty good and we had managed to get a 50% discount voucher from Eatigo. We had to cook them ourselves on hot stones, hence the name.
It was also here that we decided to do our traditional Kris Kringle. This year’s theme: Twenties. It was up to the gifter how to interpret that, and so we had these different ways: something that would take you from 20% to 100%, the most iconic thing in Singapore in our twenties, Ponzi scheme – which was famous in the 1920s, etc.
My gift was something we’ll need more of in the 2020’s, which was picked by Carly. Here’s a video of her opening it:
If you didn’t watch the video, what happened was that she opened a box with a printout of below:
So it said I had donated to Team Trees for 20 trees to be planted in her name. But actually, this wasn’t the real gift (but yes, I did really make the donation), but a travel adapter with multiple USB hubs.
My gift, meanwhile, came from Yan Ming – something that would bring you from 20% to 100% – an external battery and a bottle of cold brew coffee. Clever!
After we were done, we headed to Holey Moley where we had made reservations for 18 holes. Turns out that’s the equivalent of 2 games, because each game has 9 holes.
This is my first time to play mini golf, so I found it interesting. I was terrible (as I am with all sports), but I still enjoyed myself.
In case you have no idea what mini golf entails, each one of you gets to pick a club and ball and at each stop, you need to start at one point and try to sink the ball into a hole in 6 strokes or less. The fewer strokes you use to land a ball, the better off you’ll be. The winner is the one with the least points.
There were a lot of interesting television, movie, or Singapore-related decors at each of the holes. Very Instagramable, I have to say.
At one of the stops, Evelyn made a hole-in-one, which I managed to capture below.
The place also sells food and drinks, so we shared a bucket of cider and went around the stops while sipping our drinks.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable event and I would recommend it for team outings or just as an activity with friends! For more details, check out their website.
