Last Saturday, I went on my first hike of 2021 and visited the peak since May invited me. Since I’m not a very fit person and usually don’t do well on hikes, we decided to take the easy way by taking a shortcut via the escalators on the mid-levels.
Along the way we passed by Blend & Grind specialty coffee and smoothie bar and it smelled so good that we grabbed a cup of hot joe, which was perfect for a cold winter day. It tasted as good as it smelled!
After all the escalators were done, we had to walk up steep paved paths up the mountain.
We eventually reached a sign that pointed towards the peak and said it would take 30 minutes.
Obviously since this is me we’re talking about, 40 minutes later, we were at another sign which wasn’t even the peak yet.
We eventually reached the lion’s pavillion at the peak 47 minutes after the sign. The view was glorious!
We then walked a bit more into The Peak Galleria, a shopping mall complex where we had roast goose leg and pork at a Chinese restaurant for lunch and did some shopping and sightseeing.
Outside the mall there was an area that overlooked the peak as well.
Then it was suddenly evening so we boarded The Peak tram all the way down. I didn’t manage to get a video because it was dark, but you can see what that ride is like on Joanne Lumley’s Trans-Siberian Adventure episode 1.
I was exhausted after that but the next day, even though I slept til late, I didn’t experience as much body pains as I expected. So maybe I wouldn’t mind going on a not so tiring hike like that again!
