I celebrated my first Chinese New Year in Hong Kong yesterday with my Filipino friends May and Mico.
I picked them up at the nearby mall before walking to my flat. There were lots of nice pictorial-worthy backgrounds along the way.
We ordered food from Ho Lee Fook, a Chinese restaurant recommended by May. We loved every single dish, which tasted very high quality, most especially the typhoon shelter corn.
We had also ordered a yee sang salad to do a prosperity toss and recorded a video of us doing the toss.
There is actually something like this in Singapore as well – called yusheng – but it has very different ingredients. This one looks more like a normal salad compared to the Singapore version which has more complicated ingredients.
We also enjoyed the fortune cookies. Mine said: “If things go wrong, don’t go with them.” Sounds more like advice rather than a fortune, but it’s ok, the cookie tasted good!
Our other friend Adrian came by later, and after dinner we decided to watch a movie on Netflix before they went home.
It was a fun way to celebrate CNY.
