Every year before my birthday, I make a list of things that I want to buy that my friends use as an idea list for what to get me.
But I realize that it also serves as a list for me to look back on things that I used to just want that I eventually ended up having – either as gifts or bought by myself. It’s a good reminder, an exercise in gratitude.
With that, here’s this year’s list:
Cat. I have wanted one for years, so I have finally decided to get one this year. I will look into adoption and if I don’t get approved because of crazy requirements by the adoption agencies, then I will have to buy one. I have to, because I already bought a bunch of cat stuff from Amazon and it would be weird if I don’t have a cat to use those for. Yes, I finally got a cat!
Cat stuff. Since I’ve made up my mind about the above, I’d love items for my cutie. Like this cat backpack carrier or this plush donut bed or scratchers or toys.
Earrings and necklaces. I’m allergic to nickel and get rashes around my neck or itchy ears unless I wear jewelry made of stainless steel, sterling silver, gold vermeil, or gold. For necklaces I prefer 16 to 18 inch length that I can use to layer with my other gold-colored necklaces.
Makeup. Anything is fine, but if you need specifics: Charlotte Tilbury’s Amazing Amal lipstick or YSL touche eclat concealer in luminous radiance. Suggestion on where to buy: Strawberrynet. Received both from friends!
Red sling bag. I am crossing this off already because my very generous friend decided to give me her Tod’s D-styling bauletto mini bag – which was brand new and she was supposed to be reselling – as a very early birthday pressie back in June. Future self: remember how lucky and loved you are!
Scarf. Winter is coming! I want one in a solid colour like this camel cashmere scarf from Johnstons of Elgin. Received as an early present from LZ friends!
Silk mask. The pandemic isn’t over, unfortunately, so to prevent maskne, I like to use silk masks like the ones from Anaphe.
XLR dynamic microphone. I currently already have one – a Samson Q2U – but I need an extra one (in any brand) in case I want to interview someone in person for our podcast. Received from SG friends!
