Whenever we have to be at Central – whether to eat, visit a salon, or watch a movie – we usually drop by IFC mall to browse, even though we don’t really buy anything from most of the shops there which are mostly high end. We usually just buy from either Zara, Sephora, or Nespresso, and I usually grab a Spanish latte from my go-to coffee shop there which is %Arabica.
But last Saturday, after we had brunch at Uma Nota, as usual we headed to IFC mall but May introduced me to a tiny coffee shop which serves really good, albeit pricey coffee – Omotesando Koffee.
I had never even noticed it before because it’s just a small, minimalistic kiosk at the corner.
Here’s their coffee menu. They also have sweets but I wasn’t able to take a pic of the menu for that.
I chose an iced cafe latte while May had a hot cafe mocha. She insisted on paying.
Our feet were painful after we had walked through many shops and side streets between Peel Street and IFC mall, so we opted to take a seat at their small side bench which could hold maybe as many people that could fit on one side of a Philippine jeepney – so 7 people. ๐
While waiting for our coffee, we commented on the heavenly brewing coffee smell and I pointed out to May that the matte black kettle that sat at the counter is an expensive one – a Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Kettle which costs around 1,500 hkd.
Then our coffee was served. I took a pic, and then a sip – oh my! This is really delicious coffee indeed. It’s strong yet not very bitter. I’m no coffee connoisseur, but I can definitely tell that it tastes better than Starbucks and the like.
Energized, we browsed the usuals – Sephora and Nespresso. May gushed about the Fenty Skin pre-show glow instant retexturizing 10% AHA treatment. I was about to buy it, too, but when I checked the Sephora app, there was a price difference – it was just 280 hkd on the app but 345 hkd in store. So I decided to buy it online instead.
May also showed me the Anastasia Beverly Hills stick blush that she wanted to buy. She really wanted to buy the shade soft rose but it was out of stock in the store. She was about to go with peach, but I showed her that soft rose was still available online – just 4 items left – so we hurriedly put the item back on the shelf and left the shop to sit upstairs and buy them online. Yes, I liked how the tester looked on my hand, too, so I was also convinced to buy it.
In our hurry, I forgot that I still had a Sephora shopping bag hooked around my arm. ๐ After making our online purchases – I also showed May how to redeem a 10% off voucher with her points – we went back to return the shopping bag.
Afterwards, we queued at the Chanel shoe store and May was torn between a pair of white loafers and very comfortable casual sandals. But she wasn’t really in love with any of them – and at their price point, you really should before you buy them, no? – so she said she’d think about it and we walked out.
In the end, all the stuff I ended up buying that day – both from IFC Mall and random shops on the streets – were: a silk pillowcase from Anaphe, a pack of Rolos from a sweet shop, a Fry’s peppermint cream bar from a book store, a bunch of Nespresso capsules with a free coaster, and some toiletries from Rituals. I really love their delicious-smelling body scrub with Punjabi pink salt and sweet almond!
By the way, speaking of love, I really love the Rimowa personal clutch case that May had! But it’s way too small and expensive for me, so even though May encouraged me to buy one too, I had to say no.
