Three days ago, when I went down to my apartment building’s lobby to pick up food delivery (our building has not allowed any delivery people to go up the lifts since 2020), the guard handed me this package which the HK government had sent to everyone.
Inside the package are some Chinese medicines for Covid (2 x 24 capsules), masks (20 pcs), and rapid antigen tests (20 pcs). I don’t know if this package was for every household or every person; like do families with 4 people living in the same household receive 4 packages? Or is one household meant to share this? Probably the latter, since the guard never bothered to ask me how many people I lived with.
By the way, PRs and citizens also got monetary packages in the form of e-vouchers – H$3k for PRs, H$5k for citizens. Work visa holders don’t get anything.
There was also a note (which I misplaced) which explained that we were expected to test ourselves every day for 3 days starting today, and to self report if we had Covid.
This morning I received an SMS from the government reminding me about it.
Since Apple TV did not drop the finale episode of Severance at the same time as other parts of the world, I distracted myself from my annoyance by opening a rapid antigen test kit and following the instructions. I’ve taken one before but just wanted to make sure I didn’t do anything incorrectly.
By the way, whose idea was it to make these things look like pregnancy tests? The first time someone posted one of these on social media, I thought she was announcing her negative pregnancy which I thought was odd.
After a long 15 minutes of waiting, the result was negative. Yay!
And tomorrow, do it all again.
