We booked a Glenfinnan, Glencoe and Fort William Full-Day tour from Viator and met up at a bar at Edinburgh for the pick up. We were very early because we were supposed to ride the bus from our AirBnb but then decided to book an Uber instead because we didn’t want to be late. It was fine, we spent the time taking pictures around the area. We did a lot of “don’t look at the camera” poses because someone said that’s the Gen Z thing to do. 😅
Then at the designated time, we joined the queue and got into the tour bus. This turned out to be a great tour not only because of the fabulous views of the highlands but also because there was very little walking involved, so it was not tiring at all. They drove us to each stop, where we would go out to take some pictures before hopping back into the bus again.
This was probably a good thing, because it was super cold and windy out there and you probably wouldn’t last very long outside anyway. I was so glad I bought a puffer jacket from the first souvenir shop we dropped into.
One of the stops that involved a bit of a walk up a hill which had a view of the Glenfinnan Viaduct, aka the film location of the Harry Potter movie’s Hogwarts Express.
Gelle, Joey, and I climbed to the top and saw the viaduct, but didn’t realize that the train itself would actually pass, and missed it! Punch showed us the video he took of it later, and I included it in the Instagram reel I made for completeness.
Our last stop was at Pitlochry, where we managed to find a cute place called Hettie’s Tearoom for tea, coffee, and really delicious scones. We had a funny moment when we realized we had like only 10 minutes before the bus would leave so we quickly scarfed everything down and rushed to pay the bill and leave.
When we got back to Edinburgh, we had Filipino food delivered to our AirBnb and ate a sumptuous dinner while watching TV and chatting.
We ordered so much food that we had leftovers for breakfast the next morning.
We then had to take the train back to London, and this was on the morning of King Charles’s coronation, so we watched the coverage on our phones while on the train.
Next up – coronation parties!
