Ivy wanted to go out during the weekend, so I suggested Ikea for its tasty and juicy chicken wings. Haha. You’d think it should be for the furniture, but no. She was so excited and told me to invite my friends Gay and Cate as well. Cate couldn’t make it, but Gay was as game as ever. So last Saturday, we went with our other office friends Maya, Joc, Jem and Dred (all four used to be colleagues in Makati). Unfortunately I don’t have everyone’s picture, just Gay and Ivy’s. Everyone ordered the chicken wings that I suggested and I was very happy and relieved that they all loved it and my “best tour guide” status has not yet been revoked. Gay and I also shared a roast beef meal. It was my first time to try that and while the gravy was good, I found the meat too tough. The daim pie, blueberry cheesecake and chocolate mousse was a hit with everyone too, along with the refillable soda.

Even though we were there for the food, though, everyone soon fell in love with what Ikea really is known for – the furniture and furnishings. As always, I fell under its spell. I mean, who wouldn’t fall in love with this?

Someday I’ll get me a bedroom like those. In the meantime, I’ll just keep on visiting Ikea.
Pronounced as “Ikya” and not “Aykeeya” as I found out via cab driver’s reprimand. |
