Strictly Pancakes with Chi

Chi was back in Singapore for a vacation, so last Sunday we had brunch with her at her favorite pancakes place, Strictly Pancakes. It was my second time to go and I really wanted to try their chocolate pancakes this time, but they said they didn’t serve those before lunch. Hmph. So I had one of their weekend specials instead. I asked for hot chocolate instead of coffee and paid an extra dollar for it. As usual I couldn’t finish everything and ended up leaving one full pancake uneaten.

Chi looked more refreshed since the last time I saw her. She had a chic short haircut that made her look younger and her skin looked healthier. Is it the married life or the Philippine life that’s causing it? Maybe both. It was amusing to see her stare at all of us in amazement, like she had missed us, missed this, a lot. She even quipped that she may have more friends in Singapore than in Manila. Then we realized that it wasn’t that. You just go out with your friends a lot more when you’re in Singapore because all you have is each other. (Cue in emo music? Nah.)

The next day I was on leave, so I met up with Chi and her hubby at McDonald’s in Shaw House. I brought a slice of Awfully Chocolate fudge cake which we shared. Chi said that while her obssession had been their wedding, his is the furnishing of their new condo. Punch even told me to drop by when I was in town. I’m sure gonna take up that invite! I’m really glad I had a chance to catch up with Chi, albeit bitin. I miss her and Ngangi. Life changes so quickly.
