Top 10 Chocolate Things {Foodee}

Chocolate is the answer to everything.

I realized that this week when Amy {The Tide That Left} started an innocuous tweet: #bringmechocolate. In no time at all, other bloggers had piled on – Kate {Relokate}, Bailie {The Hemborg Wife}, Amy {Toothbrush Travels} and me.

That’s when I realized that people aside from me have strong feelings about chocolate, and that I should probably blog about this because maybe this would bring my fellow chocoholics out of the woodwork and we can unite in our mutual love of all things chocolate.

Or not. Whatever.

Anyway, here are my top 10 favorite chocolate things, in random order because how can I possibly decide on which one I love best???

(1) Chocolate bars

The chocolate aisle in the grocery store is my heaven. I love Cadbury, Hersheys, and Lindt, but my favourite bar cannot be found in the grocery store, but in its own shop… Royce.

(2) Ice Cream

Ben and Jerry’s Everything But The and Hazed and Confused are my go-to flavours, and I can easily eat an entire pint by myself. Okay, maybe not easily. Okay, sometimes. Like when I’m depressed or stressed, maybe then.

(3) Hot chocolate

One of my favorite moments in life is sipping Pan de Manila chocolate con leche while the rain is pitter-pattering outside. If I have to sip it in a cafe, I’d go to J Co. Their hot choco tastes like liquefied donuts.

(4) Milkshake

Last night I was in Clarke Quay, Singapore’s night club district, and what was I craving for? A chocolate milkshake. I had just that in TCC, but one blended with banana. This is seriously one of the best milkshakes I have ever had! This is actually a modified one from the menu; I asked them to make mine without the coffee because it was already late and I wanted to sleep when I got home.

(5) Chocolate Fudge Cake

If it’s my birthday and you gave me a birthday cake that’s not chocolate-flavored, you already failed me as a friend. The first thing you should know as my friend is that I only like chocolate cakes. Nothing else. Chocolate fudge cakes, especially Awfully Chocolate, to be specific.

(6) Cupcake

I’m a sucker for cupcakes with a moist center, and not dry but overly compensated for by the toppings. Twelve Cupcakes and Bakerzin make good ones.

(7) Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies or chocolate crinkles are my favorite kinds of cookies! The one below was baked by my friend Chi, she had the brilliant idea of putting them in mason jars. So cute!

(8) Brownies

I was just walking along the Dhoby Ghaut MRT shops, minding my own business, when someone handed me a bit of brownie on a toothpick. I absentmindedly took it, popped it into my mouth and went right on walking. When I tasted it, I walked back to the stall because it was the best damn brownie I had ever tasted. It’s called P.osh brownie, and you should definitely try it!

(9) Chocolate spreads

I love Nutella, Lotus Speculoos au choco, and Ovomaltine. It seems like I’m not the only one, because my posts about the last two generate a lot of traffic!

(10) Fondue

The chocolate fondue exists to prove that lots of food taste better if dipped in chocolate.

  1. WooHoo. So excited to see Ben & Jerry’s spread the love globally. I went to university and their factory was only a 45 minute drive from my dorms. (Hello, freshman fifteen.) I’m not even a huge ice cream person, but I can eat a pint of chunky monkey, phish food, or the one with cinnamon buns like nothing.

  2. Awesome post! I don’t know what the pull is with chocolate but there is definitely something hard wired into my system to turn to it when I’m feeling stressed. There are worse things to do I suppose.
