Halloween 2015 @ Clarke Quay

Yesterday, I celebrated Halloween with my former flatmates Cate and Tatsie. We went to Clarke Quay and had dinner at Billy Bombers in Central mall. I really love the service and the thick shakes there. I had one more entertainer app voucher there, so we got one meal for free.

After polishing off dinner, we went into a nearby washroom and put on our costumes and makeup.

My bride costume was a last minute thing. I was supposed to be a devil, as always, but just as I was on my way out the door, I spied the “bride to be” sash I had bought for a bridal shower and switched plans.

After changing and taking photos we walked to the Clarke Quay square which was overflowing with people. I was glad we had decided to eat dinner at the mall because it would have been impossible to get quick service at the bar area!

There was a program called “Local Horror Stories.

There was a free concert at the center. The band even wore costumes and they sounded really good.

There were also free fake tattoo and face painting services on the perimeters of the crowd, so we went and got some tattoos but the face paint already ran out.

After the performance, the host, DJ Ross, brought 10 best costume finalists onstage and asked the crowd to help judge who the winner was by their applause. The crown went to a guy dressed as Donald Trump with his Mexican wife. It was pretty funny, and my vote also went to them!

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a photo of him because I was too far from the stage, but I was later able to get a photo opportunity with one of the finalists, a woman dressed as Maleficent.

After the program concluded, we had some photos taken of the wonderfully creepy stage design.

Then we walked around looking for someplace to hang out. The crowd was so dense that it moved so slowly. I found myself wondering what would happen if there was a stampede. At one point, a stranger looked at me and asked, “Are you the bride from hell?” I laughed and nodded. Thanks for the title, stranger!

We had a lot of photo opportunities with people with interesting costumes.

I had a funny encounter with a guy with the mask of Frankenstein’s monster.

The moment he saw me, he whooped with glee, then got down on one knee and held my hand. I knew it was because he thought I was the bride of Frankenstein. I laughed and asked to have our photo taken.

Much later, we found ourselves back in the same area, and when he saw me again, he whooped and said, “You again!” I did the same. 😂

It’s funny because at my last halloween event in Clarke Quay, I also got “proposed to.” These guys are so hilarious.

But the funniest costume of the night would have to go to this guy:

“Naughty, naughty!” he jokingly admonished Cate, wagging his finger. 😂

We couldn’t find a place where we could sit down and have drinks. We tried to at Highlander, but they said you needed to spend a minimum of $100 per head to get a table, so umm… no thanks.

So we left the bar area and walked towards the mall, where we plonked ourselves down at Sque and had my favourite Brothers Toffee Apple Cider after a confusing moment when two different waitresses gave us different info on which ciders on the menu were on sale or not.

We went home soon after that. “Signs of ageing,” Tatsie quipped, since it was not that late yet.

“Well at least we went out, unlike other people!” I protested.

It was a fun night, though. I’m really glad we went out.
