Arlyn wanted to have a sleepover for her birthday – a sleepover in a hotel. She asked if we could take a VL on the day itself, Jan 14, but unfortunately Yves and Betchie couldn’t. I could, though, so I joined her in checking into a room in Goodwood Park Hotel.
It was my first time to be in that part of Singapore and was pleasantly surprised to see the hotel’s beautiful architecture. I later found out that it’s a heritage hotel built in 1900 – it’s 113 years old! But it’s very well maintained and doesn’t look it.

When we walked in, we had a hard time figuring out where the reception was. I think we may have walked into the wrong entrance or something. Then there was a funny moment when the receptionist asked for Arlyn’s IC (ID), and then asked, “Are you sure this is you?” Arlyn’s IC picture is an old one, you see, and to be fair, she has gone through a transformation.

The receptionist then asked if Arlyn minded a room in their sister hotel whose name I forgot. It was just next door, but the room was bigger. We decided to take a look. The room was indeed bigger, a loft-type one with a separate bedroom and living room and kitchen. However Arlyn wanted a hotel room that actually looked like one, so we said we didn’t mind waiting for a room to be freed up in the main hotel. While waiting, the two of us parked ourselves in the lobby and sipped cold mocha drinks while chatting. When a room was free, they called us and had a bellboy accompany us there. It was a very beautiful room with its own balcony, a bathroom with a tub, an extra bed at the foot of a king-sized one, and a huge TV.
Arlyn and I had initially planned to swim in the pool, but when we saw that it was directly in front of the reception area in full view of everyone, we changed our mind. We wanted to take poolside pics but it rained, so we decided to stay in and watch TV instead. Coincidentally, we had both worn Eiffel Tower earrings.

Later on we started preparing for dinner, changing into dresses and doing our hair and makeup. We wondered if we didn’t look too overdressed for a casual dinner. Haha.

We walked a few blocks to Mandarin Gallery, where Yves and Betchie were meeting us at this japanese restaurant called Suju. Arlyn’s friend had recommended it to her. We loved the food! I don’t remember the names of everything we ordered though, so sorry about that. My favorite was the pork salad thingie. (Sorry, I know I’m not being very helpful!)

After finishing our meal, we decided to hang out at out hotel room, but not before taking a detour at Antoinette, where we bought a mini cake, macarons and chocolates which we later turned into Arlyn’s “birthday cake.”
After a lot of pictorials, Arlyn finally blew out the candle and then we presented her with our gift, a Mango tote bag which reminds me of a Prada Saffiano. Isn’t it pretty? I actually wanted it for myself too haha!
Yves and Betchie didn’t stay the night and left around midnight after we had polished off dessert. Arlyn and I had a good night’s sleep after watching Obama’s press conference, which we didn’t really understand. I know. We’re pretty bad with politics and current events. >.<
The next day we had to check out, but not without posing for pics in the lobby and pool.
