May and I were shopping at Harbour City when we realized that we were hungry. So we decided to drop by Gyu-Kaku, a Japanese Yakiniku restaurant. Luckily since it was already very late (9pm), they had a table for us.
We ate an entire cow.
Okay, not exactly, but we ordered the set for two which comes with different cuts of beef from all parts of the cow, creatively displayed in a plate like this:
We also ordered a small plate of veggies (coz I always gotta have my corn), rice, and some soda-based drinks. May made a good call for us to have two bowls of rice instead of just sharing one. You should always have an entire bowl of Fluffy Japanese rice to yourself whenever you get the chance.
Since May really loves yakiniku, she decided to buy Gyu-Kaku’s membership card for H$200 which entitles her to 10% discount every time she dined in and the ability to make table reservations from their app. She also gets rewards points whenever she dines in and gets double the rewards during her birthday month. Also, she got a H$100 welcome voucher which she used to offset against our bill.
May told me that some Gyu-Kaku branches offer beef buffets, which wasn’t the case in this particular branch.
Still, I really enjoyed the really great quality thin and tender morsels of beef here. The set we got was just right, I felt satisfied but not full to bursting after the meal.
When I posted these on Instagram, one of our common friends commented that she loved Gyu-Kaku and she wanted to join us next time. I really wouldn’t mind coming back over and over again, it is that good!
