Cinque Terre, Italy {Deetour}

After our Top Deck tour ended in Rome, we booked our own side trip and rode a train to La Spezia where we stayed in the loveliest AirBNB apartment ever. From that town we could take a train into the 5 towns of Cinque Terre – Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.

Since we only had 2 days to explore the place and I had fallen ill from the tiring fast pace of our Top Deck tour, I said I could not explore all towns. So we did some research on which ones to go to and decided to go to Vernazza first.

Cinque Terre-1

I am not gonna lie. I was disappointed when I first saw it. Perhaps it was my fault for having such high expectations from seeing all the pictures on the internet, or maybe it was because we had already been to so many beautiful places before getting there – maybe it was a combination of both. As I stared at my surroundings, my friends had the guts to voice out the exact same thing that I was thinking. It wasn’t just me.

We walked up a hill to get an overview of the stacked colorful houses.

After I took some pictures on my camera, I realized something.

“Look, guys, it looks beautiful in photos!” I exclaimed, showing them my camera.

“Oh! So it’s photogenic!” They observed.

We later went on to Manarola to have early dinner there. I liked this town more than the other one. We hiked another mountain to get a good view.

We dined on bread, cured meats, and sangria while listening to the relaxing sound of Italian music while overlooking a pretty scenery.

They say the view gets better after sunset, but we didn’t stay long enough to witness it.

The next day, we got to explore Manarola, which was the beach place.

The uniform umbrellas stretched across the beach against a backdrop of a beautiful blue ocean made for a beautiful postcard-worthy photo.
