Crazy Rich Asians (Dinner & Dance @ Park Royal Hotel)

We had our company annual dinner & dance at the Park Royal Hotel on Beach Road last January 26. The theme was Crazy Rich Asians and came with a typical Chinese wedding 10 course dinner and Chinese New Year stuff like lo hei salad tossing and a lion dance.

Lo hei salad toss

There was a program that included games, office funniest videos contest, best dressed contest which included modelling, and the usual speeches. They gave out a lot of prizes and I ended up getting quite a few ang baos.

I correctly answered a question and got a $10 ang bao
My tablemates picked me to join a game which ironically turned out to involve writing Chinese characters and I was the least qualified. They were surprised when I wrote my characters legibly and our group won an $88 ang bao.
Our team won first prize ($1000) for the Funniest Office Videos Contest!
You can watch the video on my IGTV channel
This was our reaction while watching our video on the big screen. Proof that it’s funny?
Or not. I guess we’re just a team who works hard and laughs harder.
See what I mean?
We can compose ourselves when needed, though, like for this picture with the rest of the Finance department
We took the CRAZY part of Crazy Rich Asians to heart

Outfit breakdown:

  • Red off shoulder lace swing dress – from Retro Stage. They do free shipping worldwide but it takes time, so order way in advance.
  • Statement crystal necklace with velvet bow – secondhand buy from Carousell.
  • Shoes that look like Valentino rockstud heels – a shoe shop from Far East Plaza, whose name I unfortunately forgot. It’s somewhere on the third floor, I think, near the escalators
  • Makeup – a free makeover from Sephora if you buy $100 worth of products. The makeup artist was really good and she used really great brands like Hourglass for my primer and base, Anastasia for my brows and eyes, and Huda Beauty for my lips. The makeup lasted the whole night.
Not everyone dressed up glam. These guys decided to dress up as pigs because it’s the year of the pig. 😂

There were also a couple of photo booths set up in the hall.

Overall, it was one of our more enjoyable annual office D&Ds.

P.S.  Here’s a list of our office parties from previous years:
